Crochet Bricks Blanket

Afghan completed! Hooray!

I am using Bernat Blanket Yarn in gray. This pattern I found in the label. It is called Bricks Blanket

I made this afghan as a request from my daughter after she seen the King Sized afghan I made my husband in cream. It was a hand killer, so I decided on an easier pattern. Unfortunately I started with a larger hook in the beginning somehow went down a hook size through the middle and back to larger hook in the end, so it matches. It is warm and heavy weight perfect for those chilly winter nights.

Crochet King Size Afghan

This Afghan sure feels like it has no end in sight. At the time, I was searching Pinterest for fun crochet projects for the holidays, something quick, cute and fun to make as 🎁 gifts! My plans changed when hubby kept catching me searching and searching and when I mentioned I was looking for a crochet project, he put me to work. We headed to Hobby Lobby for him to pick out his yarn for his Afghan. He picked Bernat Blanket Yarn, there were only 5 skeins, 4 in gray and 1 in white. We would need a lot more to make an Afghan large enough for someone six foot tall. He wants it to be around 80 x 100 inches! Yeah, I was freaked! I have never made anything that large before, so it kind of sounded fun. I had to buy the largest crochet hook I could find in the store for this one! My hubby wants an Afghan that his toes will not poke through. That calls for tight stitches. I have been working on it off and on for about 2 months now, I can only do so many rows before my fingers are cramped up. I don't know how My elders can do that large of projects over and over again making afghans for their entire families during the holidays. It is a lot of work! Be appreciative if you receive an Afghan from a loved one, they worked hard for you to have a warm hug year round! :)

Crochet King SIze Afghan

Posted by Angela B. at 5:43 PM 0 comments

Hey there crafty friends! Among many afghans my hubby has requested this is one he was eager to buy the yarn for. Isn't it the most plush yarn you ever seen? So soft and squishy! I had already started it once, I had about six skeins on, and I was gaining stitches by the row, it was not keeping its rectangle shape. I frogged it, another words "rippit" all back out! It really had too many holes for hubby's taste anyways, so I was off to search for a new pattern and quick before he notices that I had  pullled it all out. I stumbled upon a free pattern from Yarnspirations.com using the same yarn. The pattern calls for an L hook, I chose an N, but wishing I had gone even larger on the hook size. Hubby wants it to overlap the king size bed. 80x100? Aye ye ye! Good thing I have many other crafts to keep me from going bonkers on crochet overload! So far I am starting my 3rd skein of Vinatge white Bernat Blanket yarn. $4.99 at Hobby Lobby.com only took two days to arrive with no extra shipping cost! I have 19 more skeins to go. He also requested  a border alternating between the white and a gray. He wants to keep me busy I think! Well off to go add on my goal of a skein a day! Wish me luck!
