Dinosaur Afghan

A young lady I met 12 years ago when she was just a teenager had her second baby this summer. The new little tike received a Mickey Newborn themed outfit and an elephant themed afghan. The 3 year old big sister has taken a liking to the afghan, so I was asked to make her one. Luckily I had an afghan stashed away, so I made her requested dinosaur themed afghan. I hope she likes it!

Granny Square Lovey

Working on an afghan to go with a newborn baby set I have finished in the last few days. I am loving how it turned out! 

Crochet Minnie Mouse themed Newborn set

I am very pleased with how my first ever crochet Minnie Mouse themed baby ensemble turned out. The final piece of the Minnie Baby set is this lovey blankie.  I think it really turned out so adorable! 

The set all together and ready for it's new forever home!

This by far is my favorite baby set I have made. Not only did I make the cow lovey, but I made a matching hat and booties to match! The recipient loved the set so much they had their newborn have a photo shoot in it! I am so tickled! Had I known, I would have made a diaper cover to go with my set, since the recipient had someone else make a cover and it was rather larger for a newborn. Isn't this beautiful? I started this afghan on September 29th and finished today. I used Bernat Softee Baby Solids & Marls in Baby Pink, Lavender, and White. This pattern is written by Olivia Rainsford from The Adventures of Gingerbread Lady designs.

Crochet Duck Baby Afghan

 

I was requested to make a baby afghan of my choice. I found this pattern in one of my mothers old crochet magazines, and I decided to go for it and try my first attempt at a graph pattern. What a challenge this pattern was, to coordinate the multiple yarn color changes through out the design for a beginner was taunting but I made it and it looks like a duck so I am pleased!

This yarn was so difficult to work with that I decided to find a stitch and stick with it and the stitch count and just make my best with it.

My first Baby Afghan completed!

 

I found out I am going to be  a Great or Grand Aunt, whatever you call it. I have always called it a Great Aunt, so that is what I am referring to myself as soon as she is born! I am making this afghan with my mothers left over yarn and a baby afghan pattern she worked up many times. She was teaching me how to crochet with this pattern when she was doing her chemo and I would sit with her. At the time I had no idea I would ever truly end up crocheting or enjoying crochet. But I knew she loved it and I wanted to learn anything I could while I had her, wishing I had taken the time to learn more before we had to cram it all in within such a short period of time. No matter now, I learned what I needed and have finished this baby afghan for my Great Niece that I will never send to her.
