Crochet April Flower of the Month - The Daisy

 

As some of you may know I am challenging myself to Crochet a flower representing each month this year.  April flower is the Daisy!

Here she is the quickly made Daisy. I found this quick little pattern on Pinterest. It didn’t have a leaf pattern to go with it, so I searched for Daisy leaves and found a free one to try, shown here.

February Flower - The Iris

The Iris is February flower of the month.

 This is my crochet Iris. I merged two patterns to achieve this. The pattern for the flower itself is from a pamphlet called

Crochet Carnations in the Monthly Crochet Flower Challenge 2024!

January, the month we ring in the new year with our resolutions that we set for ourselves. I usually stay away from setting myself up for failure. So, I will call my resolutions, challenges. I want to challenge myself this year to crocheting a flower every month. 

January's flower is the Carnation. Prior to deciding on this challenge for myself I had no idea what flower represented each month, but that will make this challenge much more fun, right? 

Top off my challenge with the fact that you will rarely ever see me purchase a pattern for something, I look for all FREE patterns to attempt and I do hope you join me on this journey. It will be fun to challenge ourselves. Crochet flowers can be used for so many fun projects, I have many on my bucket list to try. I am crossing my fingers I am able to find a link to a free pattern for every flower of the month in 2024!

She looks lovely on my kitchen table, the Homemade Snickerdoodles in the background weren't too bad either! :) 

 

 

This month's flower as I mentioned is the Carnation. I am using 100 % cotton yarn; my yarn is either Peaches and Cream or Crafters Choice brand. I decided to do this challenge on a whim, so I did not have all supplies needed from the pattern designer, like floral wire. I decided to go with one leaf.

100% Cotton Daffodil Tea Light holder would be beautiful as decoration for your Easter table, it can also be used as an egg holder for the best colored egg. Machine wash; lay flat to dry. More items like this will be found in my Etsy store. 

Crochet Flower Coasters

Look at these beautiful ECO- Friendly 100% Cotton Flower Coasters. They are perfect for the patio table, keeping the condensation from leaving a puddle behind. When they need to be washed you just toss them in the washer and lay flat to dry. 

I am working on projects like this and more to open my Etsy store back up, so keep an eye out for sets like this in the store soon. This set was made as an item included in an Easter Crochet Swap I had joined in the Friendship Crochet Swap. 

Flower Scrubby

Isn't this so fun! I had to come up with a special combo for my Friendship Crochet Swap partner. I decided on this as a loofah along with a leaf cotton wash cloth.

Crochet Flower Placemat

 

Crochet Round Table Mat

I seriously need to turn my backyard patio from drab to fab, so why not start off with some colorful place mats! I have 3 more to go! I am making 4 in assorted colors. I am hoping it will give a cleaner feel to the patio and if anything bring some color to it! :D This particular pattern was very easy to work up as long as you remember to keep slip stitching to the center of the previous rounds shell stitches before starting the next round, you will do just fine! ;)  When I have them all finished I will return with an updated post of how they look! You might even get a before and after shot!

Crochet Desert Rose Granny Square

When I was trying to come up with a square theme for my state of Oklahoma. I had several ideas one of which was the state flower. The state flower is Mistletoe but according to the research I had done it was changed to a Rose in 2007. I made this square ti represent the new state flower. I am going to have to make quite a few squares for the ladies in the 50 States Square swap so I really needed something a bit easier than this particular square. I let the ladies in the group decide which square I should use this one or the Native American square shown on an earlier blog posting. The native American square won the vote.

My first ever crochet daisy Granny square! It is so cute! 

 

 

Crochet Rose Makeup Bag

Here is the Tunisian Crochet stitch clutch I made. This is the second project I have ever made using the Tunisian stitch. I turned my square piece into this adorable little clutch. For some extra flare I added a cross stitch rose, the snap and a handle. 
Since I made this item for a Tunisian stitch project swap and I had Mother's Day on the mind, I decided to add some Bath & Body Works Lotion and Anti-Bacterial Hand gel tucked inside.

Crochet Flower Coasters

I finished this set of beautiful Spring flower Cotton coasters! Aren't they pretty! I started them for a lady who wanted to order from me, at the time I made three when I went back to finish the set I ended up with less petals on the flowers so I had to make another set. Yes I am thrilled that I had to make more because I love coasters! I toss these everywhere and they get plenty used in my home! :D
