Wood Burning Fun!

Posted by Angela B. at 6:16 PM 0 comments

Hello again friends and followers!

I have had this cabinet door sitting for over a year with this image penciled onto it, so that one day I would wood burn it into the door. I have no project in mind for it, I just wanted to do it for fun. And to play around with my new wood burning kit.

I wood burned a squirrel image onto a piece of pine I believe in the 6th grade. I tried again for a camp site sign for my husband and I. It turned out really good, I will have to find it and post a picture if I haven’t already.

So this would be my 3rd project with trying wood burning.  It was fun and definitely kept me busy after work and on weekends when I wasn’t doing chores or playing with my pets.

May Crochet Flower of the Month - Lily of the Valley

Posted by Angela B. at 11:42 AM 0 comments

Hello friends and followers!

Today I want to share the May flower of the month that I hand crocheted, it is the Lily of the Valley. I stuck to my theme of using cotton yarn which is not the ideal weight used for this particular flower, but it is all in fun and for practice to challenge myself once a month to pick up my hooks and yarn!

This pattern I found free, on Pinterest.

As some of you may know I am challenging myself to Crochet a flower representing each month this year.  April flower is the Daisy!

Here she is the quickly made Daisy. I found this quick little pattern on Pinterest. It didn’t have a leaf pattern to go with it, so I searched for Daisy leaves and found a free one to try, shown here.

Want to try the leaf pattern it can be found here

Crochet March Flower of the Month - The Daffodil

Posted by Angela B. at 1:54 PM 0 comments

Here’s this months flower for my Crochet Flower of the month challenge.  I didnt have any problem finding many patterns for a daffodil but when I tried to work them up I kept running into issues, pages from the pattern missing, or the stitches just weren’t coming out right no matter how many attempts I had made.

I finally decided I could make this flower with no pattern, just wing it as I go. I started with a magic circle in white.

It was pretty easy to recreate what I think a daffodil may look like. I am so proud that I have completed the first quarter of this years flower challenge!

Aunt B's 2024 January Potholder Pick of the Month is the Ice Star Potholder.

As you can see here, I had to DNF (did not finish) this item. That is what my daughter would say to me about the book I was reading taking me 6 months to read. By the way, I finally finished said book this weekend.

Crowds Cheering in background

The link to the free pattern can be found below:

I will need to attempt this one again for sure.

Did you make this beautiful hot pad?

Comment with any tips you may have for anyone attempting this beautiful pattern.

I will still definitely use mine, but I feel like it is almost one of the PINTEREST makes gone bad.

 LOL!

Crochet Carnations in the Monthly Crochet Flower Challenge 2024!

Posted by Angela B. at 12:21 PM 0 comments

January, the month we ring in the new year with our resolutions that we set for ourselves. I usually stay away from setting myself up for failure. So, I will call my resolutions, challenges. I want to challenge myself this year to crocheting a flower every month.

January's flower is the Carnation. Prior to deciding on this challenge for myself I had no idea what flower represented each month, but that will make this challenge much more fun, right?

Top off my challenge with the fact that you will rarely ever see me purchase a pattern for something, I look for all FREE patterns to attempt and I do hope you join me on this journey. It will be fun to challenge ourselves. Crochet flowers can be used for so many fun projects, I have many on my bucket list to try. I am crossing my fingers I am able to find a link to a free pattern for every flower of the month in 2024!

She looks lovely on my kitchen table, the Homemade Snickerdoodles in the background weren't too bad either! :)

This month's flower as I mentioned is the Carnation. I am using 100 % cotton yarn; my yarn is either Peaches and Cream or Crafters Choice brand. I decided to do this challenge on a whim, so I did not have all supplies needed from the pattern designer, like floral wire. I decided to go with one leaf.

This pattern can be followed along easily by watching this video on YouTube at

So, let's get started on searching for next months free flower pattern!

Hugs & Craftiness!
