And here is the final afghan from this years squares in the 2013 BAM CAL or also knows as the Block A Month Crochet-A-Long
I thought it would be a good idea to polish my crochet skills with small projects, like Crochet-A-Longs so that I can see if I am doing it right. This was such a fun CAL to participate in. Giving you the 5 different designs to add to a stocking, a holiday afghan or even turn into a garland if you like. These projects warmed my heart to make. The pattern was written by Teri Heathcote from Knot Your Nana's Crochet.
This square is one of many in the Block A Month Crochet-A-Long. This pattern was written by Chris Simon from Chris Simon's Yarn Crazy Crochet World.
This pattern is for a 12 inch square. The pattern was written by Aurora Suominen from One Crochet Day At A Time
This pattern design came from incorporating my Friendship Crochet Swap partners likes with a fun holiday ornament. This pattern was originally a sock monkey pattern that I turned into a Green Bay Packers fan, or that was my intention anyways. This pattern was written by Linda Cyr from Red Heart North America
My sister in law has always loved owls. I thought of her when I seen this pouch. I couldn't make just one! This is a great project to use up scraps of yarn. The pattern is written by Chiwei Ranck from One Dog Woof.
Another great twelve inch square pattern from the Block a Month Crochet A long. This pattern was written by Margaret MacInnis from Designs by Muggins
I know what an odd item to make. But it is what we were told to make for our Crochet Swap partners. I decided to go with a cherry theme to match the hot pad I made. I have a thing for wanting to send a set of something instead of just one item to swap.
This bag was so fun to make! I think mine came out larger than expected, but besides that, what a fun pattern.
I inherited this pattern from my mothers stash of patterns. I was thinking oh how unique it will be to show this off. then I look online and find out it is not an unknown pattern at all. Lol! Oh well here is my version of this pattern.
Where is my afghan, he asks. So I decided to go my own way and made my husband his first afghan. Yes it works as an afghan, but it is not square, the different brands in yarn fibers made it stretchy in some areas more than others. If you don't practice you cannot get better though. This pattern is written by Spool Cotton Co. Afghans Book239 the original Copyright was 1948. You can find this pattern at freevintagecrochet.com/afghan-patterns/spool239/fireside-formality-afghan-pattern
This little Hippo was made for my Friendship Crochet Swap partner. She likes Hippos, so I made a Hippopotamus for Christmas. The pattern was from Lion Brand Yarn, Leisure Arts Vanna's Choice Easy Crochet Critters
These crochet circles are suppose to turn into squares. The one on the left was my first attempt and somehow I lost stitch count and it wasn't working out, I also ran out of the black yarn so on my second attempt I did not have the black as you see. The circle on the right is just before it was suppose to turn into a square and at first it was more of a diamond shape I pulled it out tried again then it turned into a lopsided square.. I counted my stitches and somewhere I got off count again! UGH!!! So I tuned it into a potholder of sorts and I will practice this square again till it is square. It is one of the 12 in my Crochet A Long 2013 at Ravelry.com.
CROCHET-A-LONG 2013
My first attempt at these squares. As you can plainly see, I have a hard time getting them square. I think if I would have made a couple more at the same time that maybe one out of three would have been square. It takes me a couple times to get things worked just right.
This pattern was so unique I never seen anything like it before and look forward to doing this again. The pattern was written by Chris Simon from Chris Simon’s Yarn Crazy Crochet World.
I highly recommend joining a crochet a long if you want to better your skills at crochet. I have had so much fun trying new patterns. This twelve inch square pattern was written by Priscilla Hewitt from Priscilla’s Crochet
I had some issues with this square not sure if my tension was off or what. This pattern was written by Joyce Lewis.
This was such an interesting Crochet-A-Long. If it weren't for the wonderful instructor I may have had a heck of a time.
